JCI Manileña Champions Empowerment, Health, and Inclusivity in 2026

MANILA — A new chapter of women-led civic leadership formally unfolded as JCI Manileña inducted its 2026 Board of Directors and launched the “Laban Manileña” framework during ceremonies on March 13, 2026, at the Manila Polo Club. The event signaled a sharpened focus on women’s rights, mental health, inclusivity, and technology-driven public service as the organization enters its 46th year.

Elected on October 11, 2025, President Joan “AJ” Palomar Dequito and Executive Vice President Gemalyn Belleza presented a revitalized mission centered on empowerment and innovation. They outlined how “Laban Manileña” will translate advocacy into concrete programs that expand access to justice, promote safe and inclusive spaces, and strengthen community well-being.

At the core of the framework are four pillars: Women’s Rights and Gender Equality, featuring free legal consultations on labor, domestic, and civil concerns; a Pride Month Parade to promote visibility and safety for Manila’s LGBTQ+ community; Suicide Prevention Month with education, support networks, and crisis-intervention workshops; and a Breast Cancer Awareness Fashion Show amplifying survivor stories while advocating early detection and regular screenings.

The induction was witnessed by national and civic leaders, underscoring broad support for the chapter’s agenda. Among those present were former Senator Grace Poe, JCI Philippines Secretary General Lian Rimando, JCI Area 2 AVP Calel Gosingtian, and JCI Metro South RVP Gabrielle Basiano, who commended the chapter’s leadership and social innovation.

Expanding its role beyond advocacy, JCI Manileña announced a technology partnership with the City of Manila on March 23, 2026. The Board of Directors—led by President AJ Dequito and Director for Business and Governance Monique Ocampo—met with Mayor Isko Moreno and Vice Mayor Chi Atienza for a strategic discussion on embedding the organization’s digital innovations into the city’s social service system.

Unveiled during the meeting, the collaboration will roll out “Tech for Good” initiatives across city services. Key projects include a Mental Health Awareness App, a Cerebral Palsy Support App, and an Emergency Response Application aimed at enabling real-time coordination during disasters and fire incidents.

Founded as an all-female chapter within the global Junior Chamber International movement, JCI Manileña continues to evolve its role in civic leadership. With “Laban Manileña,” the chapter sets a yearlong agenda anchored on action, collaboration, and innovation—advancing modern womanhood at the intersection of purpose and progress.#
