Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte, sumuporta sa selebrasyon para sa mga solong magulang ng Quezon City

Bilang isang tagapagtaguyod ng karapatan ng mga solong magulang sa Lungsod Quezon, sinuportahan ni Quezon City Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte ang Solo Parents’ Day celebration na ginanap sa Quezon City Memorial Circle, Liwasang Aurora, noong ika-28 ng Abril.

 

Ang tema ng selebrasyon ngayong taon ay “Sulong sa Bagong Mukha ng Solo,” na nagbibigay-diin sa imahe ng solong magulang bilang isang matapang, responsable, at matatag na sector ng QC.

Sa isang panayam, inanyayahan ni Belmonte ang lahat na makiisa sa pagdiriwang ng katatagan ng mga solong magulang.

 

“Kung may kakilala tayong kapamilya, kaibigan, katrabaho o sinumang solong magulang, suportahan natin sila at bigyan ng pagpapahalaga,” sabi ng bise-alkalde.

 

Ang selebrasyong ito ay bahagi ng kampanya upang baguhin ang ilan sa mga probisyon ng Republic Act 8972 o ang Solo Parent Welfare Act 2000, na pangunahing nagbibigay ng mga diskwento at karagdagang benepisyo sa mga solong magulang.

 

“Bilang isang babae, ina, at lingkod bayan, tungkulin kong tulungan ang mga solong magulang. Patuloy po ‘yung basic programs natin para sa mga solong magulang at sa kanilang mga anak katulad na lamang sa health, education, livelihood and employment,” Belmonte said.

 

Ang nasabing okasyon ay inorganisa ng 4ks Solo Parents Federation kasama ang Opisina ni Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte. Ito ay dinaluhan ng halos 800 na solong magulang mula sa Distrito 1 hanggang Distrito 6 ng Quezon City.

 

Sinabi ni Belmonte na ang aktibidad ay nagtampok ng zumba dance exercises, Serbisyo caravan at libreng legal na konsultasyon na inihandog ng Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) at iba pang mga serbisyo tulad ng libreng nail art, massage at haircut na ini-sponsor ng mga konsehal ng lungsod.

Ipinasa ng lokal na pamahalaan ng Quezon City ang Ordinansa No. SP-2354-S-2014 na nagsasabatas ng pagdiriwang ng Solo Parents’ Week tuwing huling linggo ng Abril upang bigyan ng tamang pagkilala ang mga residente na solong magulang ng lungsod.

 

Sa ngayon, ang Quezon City ang nag-iisang LGU na nagtatag ng isang ordinansa na may layuning bigyan ng espasyal na linggo o araw ang mga solong magulang. -30-
