DOST, Key Groups Join Forces for Halal Program

Stakeholders of the DOST Integrated Program on Halal gathered today to discuss the program’s final details before moving toward implementation.

Crucial to the finalization process were ideas and contributions from key personalities of Mindanao Halal for Peace and Development, Incorporated (MHPDI), and the Halal Business Council-Mindanao (HBC-MIN); Sheikh Salih Musa (Chairman), Habbas Camendan (Secretary General), Sheikh Abdulwahid Sumaoang (IVP), and Antara Zacaria (Auditor) who shared their knowledge on Halal from which of the program’s aspects would best benefit from.
 
Leading the group were Dr. Ma. Patricia Azanza, Director of the DOST-Industrial Technology Development Institute (DOST-ITDI) and Dr. Anthony Sales, DOST XI Regional Director, , who, along with leaders from the Department of Science and Technology IX (DOST IX), the DOST-Technology Application and Promotion Institute (DOST-TAPI), DOST-Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (DOST-ARMM), DOST-Food and Nutrition Research Institute (DOST-FNRI), Philippine Council for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development (PCIEERD), and the University of Southern Mindanao (USM), were successful in identifying strategies and activities for the 4 major components of  the program:
 
·         Human Resource
·         Laboratory Services
·         Research and Development (R&D)
·         Technology Transfer
