QC GOV’T OKAYS Php 1 MILLION FINANCIAL GRANT TO SAF HEROES’ FAMILIES

Quezon City government will grant twenty thousand pesos (P20,000) each to the bereaved families of the forty-four (44) officers of the Philippine National Police-Special Action Force (PNP-SAF) who died in Mamasapano, Maguindanao last January 25.

The city council approved last February 23, 2015 a resolution authorizing the grant of financial assistance to the families of the heroes of the SAF operation that ended with an encounter with members of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and the  Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF).

The same resolution also authorized a grant of ten thousand pesos (P10,000) to  each wounded SAF officer who survived in the massacre.

The resolution was introduced by Councilors Alexis R. Herrera, Lena Marie P. Juico and Dorothy A. Delarmente.

“The Quezon City government recognizes the heroic act of the 44 gallant police officers who gave their lives so that we will have a safe and peaceful country to live in,” the resolution said.

“The nation condoles with the bereaved families of the 44 PNP-SAF officers and a financial assistance is just and proper to help their loved ones who are now grieving for their loss as well as to those who were wounded during the unfortunate event,” the resolution added.(Maureen Quiñones, PAISO)
