PDEA NETS MINOR IN MOA FAST FOOD RESTO

P400,000 worth of shabu seized

An alleged minor was arrested by operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) after he sold methamphetamine hydrochloride, or shabu, to a poseur-buyer in front of a fast food restaurant inside SM Mall of Asia, Pasay City.

PDEA Director General Undersecretary Arturo G. Cacdac, Jr. identified the suspect as Nelson Anchujas Cosme Jr., a resident of Barangay Sto. Kristo, Dasmariñas, Cavite.

At around 4:30 in the afternoon of June 17, 2015, elements of PDEA Regional Office-National Capital Region (PDEA RO-NCR) under Director Erwin Ogario apprehended Cosme during a buy-bust operation in front of Burger King food chain restaurant in SM Mall of Asia, Pasay City.

Seized during the operation were one knot-tied transparent plastic bag containing 100 grams of white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu, with an estimated street value of P400,000.

During the course of booking procedure, Cosme insisted that he is onIy 17 years old but did not have any proof to support his claim that he is a minor.

A case for violation of Section 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs), Article II of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, is now being prepared for filing in court against Cosme.

Meanwhile, on June 18, 2015, a baggage containing a kilogram of dried marijuana stalks wrapped with brown paper was intercepted by the same operating unit inside Victory Liner Terminal, Monumento, Caloocan City at around 1:00 in the afternoon.

The day before, three packs of marijuana bricks weighing roughly four kilograms, were also discovered inside the said bus terminal. PDEA is not discounting the possibility that the baggages were shipped by a drug syndicate.

Both operations were a result of the information received by PDEA that baggages containing marijuana will be transported to Metro Manila via bus. Investigations are still on-going to verify the origin and whereabouts of the sender and intended receiver.(Mr. Glenn J. Malapad, OIC, Public Information Office, PDEA)
