DRUG GROUP LEADER, MEMBER NABBED IN ILOCOS SUR SEARCH

Combined anti-narcotics operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Philippine Navy arrested a leader and member of a local drug group during lawful searches in Ilocos Sur on June 17, 2015.

PDEA Director General Undersecretary Arturo G. Cacdac, Jr. identified the suspects as Ian Francis Rabang, 43 years old; and Samuel Ramos, 45, a tricycle driver, both residents of Barangay San Juan, Candon City, Ilocos Sur.  Rabang and Ramos are the leader and member of the Yan-I Drug Group, respectively and priority target-listed drug personalities of PDEA Regional Office 1 (PDEA RO1).

At around 6:30 pm, joint elements of PDEA RO1 under Director Adrian Alvariño, Ilocos Sur Provincial Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group (PAIDSOTG), Candon City Police Station, Naval Intelligence Service Group (NISG) and Provincial Intelligence Branch (PIB) implemented two search warrants which resulted in the arrest of Rabang and Ramos in their houses in Barangay San Juan.

Seized inside Rabang’s house were three heat-sealed plastic sachets of shabu weighing approximately 20 grams, one hand grenade and assorted drug paraphernalia, while a sachet of shabu, marijuana dried leaves weighing more or less 1.5 grams and various drug paraphernalia, were confiscated inside the house of Ramos.

Rabang and Ramos will be charged for violation of Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs) and Section 12 (Possession of Drug Paraphernalia), Article II, of the Republic Act 9165, or The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.  (Mr. Glenn J. Malapad, OIC, Public Information Office, PDEA)
