P4 MILLION WORTH OF SHABU SEIZED IN CEBU

Young couple arrested

Four million pesos worth of methamphetamine hydrochloride, popularly known as shabu, was confiscated by combined operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and local police during an entrapment operation in Cebu City on July 10, 2015.

PDEA Director General Undersecretary Arturo G. Cacdac, Jr., identified the suspects as Leemuel Ivan Toleza Abenoja, 21 years old, a resident of Katipunan Street, Barangay Tisa, Cebu City; and his live-in partner Hazel Rose Nacario Dabatos, 20, of D-8 Dimasalang Street, Cebu City.

At around 5:45 pm, combined operatives of PDEA Regional Office 7 (PDEA RO7) under Director Jeffrey Bangsa and Cebu City Police Office arrested the pair after they sold one kilogram of shabu with an estimated street value of P4,000,000 to an undercover agent who acted as poseur-buyer in Gaisano Capital South, Leon Kilat Street, Cebu,City.

However, the subjects of the operation, a certain Buds and Alfiel Chiu, managed to elude arrest and remain at large.

Abenoja and Dabatos will be charged for violation of Section 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs) in relation to Section 26 (Conspiracy to Sell), Article II of RA 9165, or The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. They are presently detained at PDEA RO7 Jail Facility in Lahug, Cebu City.

Earlier, joint elements of PDEA RO7 and Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) 7 implemented an authorized search at around 9:00 in the morning that led to the arrest of Ramsy Jacaban, alias Ramboo, a target-listed drug personality, in his house in Sitio Upper Kanparang, Barangay Kalunasan, Cebu City.

Confiscated inside were six plastic sachets of suspected shabu weighing approximately four grams.

A case for violation of Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs) of RA 9165 will be filed in court against Jacaban, who is currently detained at PDEA RO7 Jail Facility. (Mr. Glenn J. Malapad, OIC, Public Information Office, PDEA)
