Manila Water celebrates Earth Week 2015

As part of the celebration of Earth Day 2015, East Zone concessionaire Manila Water undertook a series of activities encouraging more active involvement from its employers and stakeholders in protecting the environment.
The activities, spearheaded by Manila Water’s Sustainability Department brought together other departments within the Company that included Employee Engagement, Corporate Communications, East Zone Business Operations and other Manila Water volunteers, for a creativity contest, interactive learning events as well as a Nature Walk.
The creativity contest dubbed “Kalikalikes 2015” harnessed the creative talents of Manila Water employees in crafting poetry, artwork and photography entries in expressing their concern to Mother Earth.  This year’s theme was ‘Our Future, My Responsibility’.
The week-long celebration also launched the “Bawat Patak Tumatatak Goes to School Program” in San Juan City that involved several interactive learning activities on water education with a special focus on used water.
San Juan Mayor Guia Gomez led a story-telling session on the environment to Grade 4 students from various elementary schools in San Juan who were also treated with a puppet show, educational games and other interactive learning sessions facilitated by Manila Water employees and the City Environment Office of San Juan City Government.
Manila Water also hosted a Nature Walk for the members of the Ayala Sustainability Council and the Manila Water Scoopers. The participants walked the 3.5-kilometer path within the La Mesa Watershed in Quezon City.
Capping the week-long activities is Manila Water’s participation in the Earth Day celebration at the Quezon Memorial Circle attended by various organizations and government agencies. Parallel activities promoting environmental awareness included events hosted by Earth Day Network Philippines, Earth Day Jam at the Bonifacio Global City and the Pro Earth Run at the Mall of Asia grounds.
