TODA/ JODA MEMBERS ALSO NEED SSS/ PHILHEALTH/ PagIBIG BENEFITS

All tricycle and jeepney drivers should join Social Security System (SSS), Philhealth and Pag-Ibig coverage to avail themselves of the necessary protection and assistance during times of great need.

Quezon City Councilor  Marivic Co-Pillar has vowed to pursue such benefit for members of the city’s tricycle operators and drivers associations (TODA) and jeepney operators and drivers association s(JODA).

In Resolution No. SP 6182, S-2014, Co-Pillar said that the city’s TODAs and JODAs belong to the underprivileged sector of society and almost all of them have no stable income, thus when an unfortunate event befalls them such as calamity, sickness and death in the family  they are left with no recourse but to seek financial assistance from others.

“The TODAs and JODAs could play an active role in the promotion of social justice. They could help provide meaningful protection and assistance to their bonafide members in times of crisis,” the solon said.

The councilor said that encouraging members of TODA and JODA to join the coverage of government health and security protection agencies such as SSS, Philhealth and Pag-Ibig  members will give them protection and assistance in times of needs.

“It is enshrined in our Constitution that the state shall promote a just and dynamic social order that will ensure the prosperity and independence of the nation and free the people from poverty through policies that provide adequate social services, promote full employment, a rising standard of living, and an improved quality of life,” Co-Pillar said.
