QC STRENGTHENS OFFICE FOR SMALL BUSINESSES

Quezon City Mayor Herbert M. Bautista has signed into law a measure that will help strengthen small business enterprises in QC.

Ordinance No. SP-2364, S-2014 mandates the creation of the Quezon City Small Business Development and Promotion Office (QC-SBDPO) that will assist small traders in the development, promotion and marketing of their businesses.

To give small and starting businesses the much-needed marketability and as they venture and compete with the existing market giants, the QC government will work hand-in-hand with city traders through the QC-SBDPO to ensure that all needed assistance are provided to them.

According to 5th District Councilor Godofredo T. Liban II, one of the authors of the said law, the city government is setting up helpful policies, programs, benefits and incentives for micro and small business enterprises in QC to make them more competitive in the business they wish to explore.

It is proper and imperative to come up with new office to effectively and efficiently implement the policies and programs set in the QC Magna Carta for Micro and Small Business Enterprise – facilitating the grant of incentives and other privileges to qualified beneficiaries, Liban said.

The city government recognizes the potential of micro and small enterprises and entrepreneurs to generate sustainable employment and be partners of the QC government in the intensified effort for economic growth, Liban added.

The QC-SBDPO will replace Ordinance No. SP-1607, S-2005 otherwise known as the Quezon City Sikap Buhay and Cooperative Center (QCSBCC) which was previously organized to effectively promote and realize the objectives of Microfinance and Cooperativism among businesses in QC.

The QC-SBDPO is mandated to assess and provide the needs for increasing competence and capabilities – designs, develop and standardize programs and services useful to stakeholders.
