FOR QC TAXPAYERS ONLY

Here’s a very important announcement from Quezon City Hall…

Quezon City will accept tax payments during the 5-day visit to the Philippines of His Holiness Pope Francis.

Despite Malacanang’s proclamation that January 15, 16 and 19 are special non-working holidays, Mayor Herbert M. Bautista has ordered the city’s revenue generating offices, particularly those under the City Administrator (CA) and City Treasury Office (CTO), to continue their operation and processes, and to attend to the needs of the city’s taxpayers.

“We should be open on January 15 to 19 even if the Pope is in the Philippines,” the Mayor replied in a marginal note in the letter sent by City Treasurer Edgar Villanueva requesting for suspension of CTO operations on the said holidays.

At the same time, the QC Information Technology Development Office (QCITDO) headed by Reynald Paul Imjada had scheduled a skeletal force to ensure smooth operation for tax payments and assessments and minimize downtime of support services.

City Administrator Aldrin C. Cuña explained that the period of January 2015 is devoted to the collection of taxes, fees and charges from the city’s taxpayers, thus, closing office operation on the said dates will greatly affect taxpayers in paying their tax obligations to the city, for business or real property.

Cuña said that the volume of taxpayers will surely swell on the January 20 deadline for business tax payments, and this will create a big problem to city personnel as well as to taxpayers themselves.

The city government has already extended the working hours, including Saturdays and Sundays of all city hall offices involved in tax assessment and payments in January to accommodate QC taxpayers.

Aside from extended working hours, the QC government had advised taxpayers that all treasury branches outside QC Hall are also open to accept tax payments of low-risk establishments with gross sales value of P500,000 and below such as sari-sari store and apartment lessor in branches in Novaliches, La Loma, Cubao, Talipapa and Galas.
