LOCAL DRUG GROUP MEMBER BUSTED IN BAGUIO

A local drug group member was arrested by combined operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and local police after he sold methamphetamine hydrochloride, or shabu, to a poseur-buyer in Baguio City.

PDEA Director General Undersecretary Arturo G. Cacdac, Jr. identified the suspect as Patrick Roger Tamayo Catbagan, 28 years old, a resident of South Sanitary Camp, Baguio City. Catbagan is a member of Pagare Drug Group operating in Baguio City.

On November 6, 2015 at around 11:00 in the evening, an undercover agent of PDEA Regional Office-Cordillera Administrative Region (PDEA RO-CAR) under Director Juvenal Azurin entered into a transaction with Catbagan for the purchase of two plastic sachets of shabu. They agreed to meet in South Central, Aurora Hill, Baguio City.

Upon the pre-arranged signal, elements of PDEA RO-CAR, in collaboration with a team from Baguio City Police Office Station 6 immediately arrested Catbagan after receiving the buy-bust money in exchange for the illegal drug.

When frisked, Catbagan yielded eight more plastic sachets containing more or less 50 grams of suspected shabu, with an estimated street value of P225,000.

However, Catbagan’s cohort identified as Arman Dumpit, managed to elude arrest. Dumpit remains at large.

Catbagan will be charged for violation of Section 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs) and Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs), Article II of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. He is temporarily detained at PDEA RO-CAR Jail Facility in Camp Bado Dangwa, La Trinidad, Benguet.
