QC BRACES FOR HOLY WEEK, PREPARES PUBLIC SAFETY MEASURES

There will be no Lenten break for Quezon City’s traffic and rescue personnel.

On orders of QC department of public order and safety (DPOS) chief Elmo San Diego, all traffic and rescue personnel of the city will be placed on alert mode starting Monday, March 30, to ensure public safety during the observance of the Holy Week.

As provided under the DPOS chief directive, the city’s traffic personnel shall be mobilized to complement the police and traffic management force that will be deployed by the QC Police District and the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) during this period.

The city’s rescue team, on the other hand, shall be mobilized to respond to any emergency situation that may arise during the observance of the Lenten season.

DPOS traffic operations center chief Dexter Cardenas said the city’s traffic personnel will be mobilized to help provide order in securing provincial bus terminals and other passenger holding areas located in Quezon City.

Quezon City plays host to several provincial buses terminals plying Southern Luzon – Quezon City routes and vice versa such as Tritran, JAC and JAM Liners along Kamuning Road and those plying Northern Luzon – QC routes and vice versa such as Baliwag, Victory, Partas, Dagupan, Five Star and the Dominion Bus Lines in the Cubao area.

QC traffic enforcers will also provide traffic assistance to pilgrims and churchgoers during processions and ‘Visita Iglesia.”  DPOS has enlisted the support of the city’s barangay public safety officers for maintaining peace and order in QC during the Lenten break.
