Local products featured in Galing Bataan Trade Fair

Local quality products by Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Bataan were featured in the “Galing Bataan Trade Fair” at the Balanga City Plaza from April 7 to 11, 2015. The trade fair was officially opened on April 7 with a program held at the Plaza Hotel with City Mayor Joet S. Garcia, Engr. Oscar B. Banzon, owner of Abesco Corporation, Ms. Vicky S. Garcia, chairperson of the Bataan Peninsula Tourism Council and other key officials of the province in attendance. The trade fair was organized as part of the Bataan Day Celebrations, with the support of the Department of Trade and Industry, Bataan Tourism Office and the City of Balanga.

More than forty (40) MSMEs participated in the fair with a wide variety of products including soap, bags, fruits, fish sauce, dried fish, sautéed shrimp paste, crispy fish and other native food products that the province is known for.

The participating SMEs have been constantly supported by DTI Bataan through training, market matching, trade fair exposure and business development services to enable them to widen their market since most of them supply products for export.  DTI also support SMEs using environment friendly materials, like the bag makers of Limay who use recycled tetra packs as cost efficient raw materials in the production of quality bags and decorations.

Aside from the MSME stalls, there were also eleven (11) booths that exhibited the potential products of each city or municipality of Bataan. The City of Balanga exhibited its booth decorated with its native coconut coir mat while the municipality of Samal exhibited household décor made of capiz shells which is abundant in the town.

The sales generated for the participating MSMEs reached Php 789,533.00 for the four day activity.
