PDEA, PNP ACT ON TIP-OFF IN TAGUM CITY

Information leads to seizure of P9 million worth of shabu

Acting on a tip from a concerned citizen, combined operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) arrested two pushers and confiscated P9,000,000 worth of methamphetamine hydrochloride, or shabu, in Tagum City.

PDEA Director General Undersecretary Arturo G. Cacdac, Jr. said that elements of PDEA Regional Office 11 (PDEA RO11) under Director Emerson Rosales, in collaboration with teams from Davao del Norte Provincial Police Office. Davao Oriental Provincial Police Office Intelligence Branch, Regional Intelligence Unit 11 (RIU-11), Tagum City Police Station and Davao del Norte Criminal Investigation and Detection Team (CIDT) conducted a buy-bust operation in Stall No. 2, Pereras Compound, Barangay Magugpo West, Tagum City, Davao del Norte, at around 7:00 in the evening on June 5, 2015.

Caught red-handed while handing over approximately one kilogram of shabu worth P9,000,000 in exchange for the marked money to a poseur-buyer were Ferdinand Jose Camacho, alias Ferdie/Boy, 45 years old, a businessman and a resident of Block 8 Lot 4, Villa Magsanoc, Barangay Mankilam, Tagum City, Davao del Norte; and Oder Saipuding,
alias Dodong, a laborer from Monay, Lanao del Norte.

During body search, the suspects also yielded assorted drug paraphernalia.

“Prior to the arrest, we have received information from a concerned citizen through PDEA Text Hotlines reporting the identities and whereabouts of the suspects who happened to be two of the big-time shabu suppliers in Davao Region,” Cacdac said.

Camacho and Saipuding will be facing charges for violation of Section 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs), Section 12 (Possession of Drug Paraphernalia) and Section 15 (Use of Dangerous Drugs), Article II of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. They are temporarily detained at Davao City Police Office Jail
Facility.

Cacdac said, “PDEA continues to encourage the public to get more involved in the anti-drug campaign by reporting suspicious illegal drug activities in their neighborhood”. (Mr. Glenn J. Malapad, OIC, Public Information Office, PDEA)
