ANTI-DRUG SEARCH YIELDS 100 GRAMS OF SHABU IN MASBATE

Seven pieces of heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing methamphetamine hydrochloride, or shabu, weighing more or less 100 grams, were seized from a male pusher by combined operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and local police during a lawful search in Masbate City on June 29, 2015.

PDEA Director General Undersecretary Arturo G. Cacdac, Jr. said that the illegal drug was confiscated from the suspect identified as Rainier Pepillo, 40 years old, a resident of Barangay Buenavista, Uson, Masbate City.

At around 5:07 in the morning, agents of PDEA Regional Office 5 (PDEA RO5) under Director Bryan B. Babang, in collaboration with Uson Municipal Police Station, implemented a search warrant against Pepillo that led to his arrest in his house in Barangay Buenavista and the seizure of 100 grams of suspected shabu.

The estimated street value of shabu per gram in Region 5 ranges from P3,000 to P5,000.

A case for violation of Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs), Article II of Republic Act 9165, or The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, is being prepared for filing in court against Pepillo. He is temporarily detained at Uson Municipal Police Station.

On the same day, the same operating unit, with the help of Naga City Police Station, conducted an entrapment operation which resulted in the arrest of Marlon Aloc, 29; Aurelio Era, alias Aweng, 38; and Esmael Obas, 30, in RJMC Hotel along Almeda Highway, Concepcion Grande, Naga City, Camarines Sur. Confiscated from them were three plastic sachets of shabu weighing more or less 25 grams.

The trio will be charged for violation of Section 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs) and Section 11 of RA 9165. (Mr. Glenn J. Malapad, OIC, Public Information Office, PDEA)
