DRUG GROUP LEADER ARRESTED IN ILOCOS SUR

Combined anti-narcotics operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) arrested a drug group leader and confiscated 30 grams of dried marijuana leaves during the implementation of a search warrant in Sta. Maria, Ilocos Sur on July 17, 2015.

PDEA Director General Undersecretary Arturo G. Cacdac, Jr. identified the suspect as Edralin Calibuso y Valdesco, 36 years old, leader of the Stebacan Drug Group and a resident of Brgy. Babballasioan, Sta. Maria, Ilocos Sur. He is a priority target-listed drug personality of PDEA Regional Office 1 (PDEA RO1) and the PNP in the province of Ilocos Sur.

At around 8:40 am, combined elements of PDEA Regional Office 1 (PDEA RO1) under Director Adrian G. Alvariño, Sta. Maria Police Station, Ilcoos Sur Provincial Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group (ISPAIDSOTG), Provincial Intelligence Branch-Ilocos Sur Provincial Police Office (PIB-ISPPO), Ilocos Sur Provincial Public Safety Company, and Ilocos Sur Criminal Investigation Detection Team implemented a search warrant issued by the Honorable Mario Anacleto M.
Banez, Presiding Judge of Regional Trial Court Branch 25 of Tagudin, Ilocos Sur that resulted in the arrest of Calibuso in his residence of Brgy. Babballasioan, Sta. Maria, Ilocos Sur.
Confiscated from Calibuso were three pieces of heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets of suspected shabu, one pack of dried marijuana leaves weighing 30 grams and 10 pieces of rolled white paper.

Calibuso will be charged for violation of Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs) and Section 12 (Possession of Equipment and Other Drug Paraphernalia for Dangerous Drugs), Article II of the Republic Act 9165, or The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

On the same day, the same law enforcement unit of PDEA RO1 implementeda search warrant against Ronnie Calibuso and Elmer Calibuso, who were not around during the operation in their residence in Brgy. Babballasioan, Sta. Maria, Ilocos Sur.
Confiscated in the residence of the Calibusos were eight pieces of transparent plastic sachets of suspected shabu, three opened transparent plastic sachets containing shabu residue, one piece of transparent plastic sachet containing dried marijuana leaves weighing15 grams and assorted drug paraphernalia.

The operatives arrested Frederick Cabanting, 30, a resident of Sta. Maria, Ilocos Sur, who was present during the operation. Seized from Cabanting were one heat-sealed transparentplastic sachet of suspected shabu, two improvised tooter, one aluminum foil strip, and various rolled aluminum foils.

Cabanting will be charged for violation of Sections 11 and 12, Article II of RA 9165, while the Calibusos, who are at-large, will also be charged for violation of Sections 11 and 12. (Mr. Glenn J. Malapad, OIC, Public Information Office, PDEA)
