Geopolitical Analyst Warns U.S. Missile System Puts Philippines in “Danger,” Accuses U.S. of Economic Destabilization

The Philippines faces a severe risk of destruction in any conflict with China and is simultaneously grappling with an economy near “collapse” due to a deliberate American plan of destabilization, according to a stark assessment by geopolitical analyst Herman “Mentong” Laurel.

Laurel’s comments, made on SMNI Newsblast, were prompted by a question from Davao City Congressman Paulo Duterte, who publicly questioned whether the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) serves the CIA or the Philippines. This inquiry came after AFP Chief of Staff General Romy Browner Jr. mentioned the American Typhoon Missile System in the country.

In response to the geopolitical tensions, Laurel issued a grave warning regarding the Philippines’ military capabilities. He stated that if Typhoon missiles are activated, the Philippines would be in immediate danger.

“If the first bullet is heard to explode, our Philippine Coast Guard and Navy will be destroyed in the first hour,” Laurel said. He emphasized that China’s missiles and drones are prepared to fight the United States, making the Philippines the enemy. “The Philippines will not be able to face them,” he concluded.

Shifting to the nation’s economic woes, Laurel asserted that the economic deterioration and the “destruction of our national unity” are part of a calculated American strategy. He drew a direct parallel to U.S. actions in Ukraine, claiming, “Because the plans of the Americans to destabilize the country, to prepare for the war, was first to destroy the economy. That is also what happened, what they did in Ukraine.”

Laurel presented a bleak economic picture to support his claims, noting that the Philippine stock market is the lowest in ASEAN and the country’s GDP is the lowest among the five original ASEAN members. He attributed this crisis to “intense corruption,” which he says frightens investors and causes foreign countries to abandon the Philippine economy.

The analyst argued that genuine foreign aid should focus on economic revival, not military hardware. “If a foreign country wants to help the Philippines, it should not give up its arms. Instead, it should help to revive its economy,” he stated, adding that fixing the economy and national unity should be the primary focus.

The AFP has previously clarified that its modernization efforts, including the mention of the Typhoon Missile System, are intended to strengthen the country’s defense.#
