DOTr, Kakanselahin ang Kontrata sa Tagapagtayo ng Common Station Dahil sa Matinding Pagkaantala – Dizon

Nakatakdang tapusin ng Department of Transportation (DOTr) ang kontrata nito sa Unified Grand Central Station consortium, BF Corp. at Foresight Development and Surveying Co. (BFC-FDSC), dahil sa matinding pagkaantala sa konstruksyon.

Ipinahayag ni Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon ang kanyang pagkadismaya sa isang kamakailang inspeksyon sa site, binigyang-diin na dapat ay natapos na ang proyektong mag-uugnay sa pangunahing linya ng tren na LRT-1 at MRT-3.

“Ang ating legal team ay tinatapos na ang proseso ng terminasyon upang makausad tayo at tuluyang matapos ang proyektong ito,” ayon kay Dizon. “Hindi katanggap-tanggap ang pagkaantala. Sa ngayon, dapat ay napapakinabangan na ito ng ating mga mananakay.”

Upang mapabilis ang konstruksyon, sinisiyasat ng DOTr ang iba pang opsyon sa ilalim ng Government Procurement Act o Public-Private Partnership Code.

Nagbabala rin si Dizon na maaaring patawan ng multa at liquidated damages ang BFC-FDSC dahil sa hindi pagtupad sa kanilang obligasyon sa kontrata. Kaugnay nito, tinugunan niya ang mga alalahanin tungkol sa posibleng pananagutan ng gobyerno dahil sa naantalang bayad, na kanyang kinilala bilang isang karaniwang isyu. Gayunpaman, tiniyak niya na susuriin ang lahat ng aspeto upang makahanap ng patas na solusyon.

Binigyang-diin niya ang kahalagahan ng proyekto para sa mga commuter, dahil magpapadali ito ng paglipat sa pagitan ng MRT-3, LRT-1, at sa hinaharap ay MRT-7 at Metro Manila Subway.

“Kailangang mapabilis ito dahil malaking ginhawa ang maidudulot nito sa ating mga mananakay,” dagdag ni Dizon.

Matatagpuan sa North Edsa, Quezon City, ang Common Station ay may 13,700-square-meter na concourse na idinisenyo upang gawing mas maayos ang pagsakay sa tren. Bukod dito, magkakaroon ito ng integrated intermodal transport system na magpapadali sa paglipat ng mga pasahero sa mga bus, jeepney, o taxi.
