The 5th Quezon City International Business Conference will take place on February 28 at the M.I.C.E. venue within the Quezon City Hall Complex, themed “Building Tomorrow Together: Future Proofing Business, Driving Sustainable and Fostering Equitable Economy.”
Dr. Carl Balita, Chairman Emeritus of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry-Quezon City (PCCIQC), proudly highlighted that this is the first international business conference to be held in Quezon City. The PCCIQC has been recognized as the Most Outstanding PCCI Chapter in the Philippines for two consecutive years (2023 and 2024). Dr. Balita noted that the event was initially set for New Delhi, India, but was moved to Quezon City, reflecting Mayor Joy Belmonte’s purpose-driven leadership.

The conference aims to bring together key figures from various sectors, including representatives from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Department of Science and Technology (DOST), Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), and ambassadors from different embassies. The event underscores Quezon City’s ambition to create an ideal business ecosystem, supporting Mayor Belmonte’s vision of equitability and positioning the city as the startup hub capital of the Philippines.
A panel discussion will focus on future-proofing businesses, with participation from industry leaders like Uratex. Delegates from Singapore, Russia, Australia, and Spain will discuss sustainable economic growth and digitalization. Notably, 99% of businesses in Quezon City are micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). In support of local entrepreneurs, giveaways for foreign delegates will be sourced from Quezon City’s MSMEs.
Special guests include Elias Diaz and Amor Maclang of Digital Pilipinas. Ms. Earth 2017 will also be present to address environmental sustainability, emphasizing the urgency of the climate crisis. The conference will feature an exhibit showcasing innovative products like a plantable toothbrush and packable water.
Atty. Arnel Mateo, President of Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry – Quezon City (PCCIQC) and Co-Chairman of the event, emphasized the importance of fostering a strong business community focused on sustainable development and equitable economy. PCCIQC actively supports MSMEs and nano enterprises by providing opportunities for growth, partnering with government agencies like the DTI, and ensuring compliance with labor standards, including strict opposition to child labor.
Margie Santos-Mejia, Business Permit and Licensing Department Head, expressed optimism that the PCCIQC could secure a third award for being the Most Business Friendly. Quezon City boasts nearly 100% completion in business processes, from registration to operations. Special provisions are made for MSMEs and nano enterprises, including reduced fees and exemptions for beneficiaries of the Pangkabuhayan Program. The city also encourages street vendors to register to better understand their economic impact.
The Public Employment Office serves as a bridge between employers and employees in Quezon City, supporting Mayor Belmonte’s vision of a robust and equitable local economy.#
