MANILA — Bulacan (6th District) Rep. Salvador Pleyto Sr. and his family were awarded with the Golden Leaf Leadership Award and Model Family Award on Friday night (July 19) here at the historic Manila Hotel.
The Family Peace Association (FPA) conferred the “First Asia-Pacific Golden Leadership and Family (Leaf) Awards 2024” known as the Golden Leaf Family Award to the Pleyto family during the First Asia-Pacific Family Peace Leadership Conference.
Dr. Leonida Bayani Ortiz is the Chair of Golden Leaf Awards Committee. The theme of the conference is “The Essence of One Family Under God: A Platform of World Peace for a New Civilization”.
The prestigious award honors families that exemplify outstanding values, unity and service to the community. The Pleyto family embodies these ideals through their dedicated public service, strong family bonds, and commitment to societal development.
Rep. Pleyto has a distinguished career in public service, marked by his commitment to the welfare of his constituents in Bulacan province. “There is no perfect family, only perfect God,” Rep. said in accepting the award.
Salvador, in his speech, cited Article 15, Section 1 of the 1987 Philippine Constitution which mandates that the Family is the basic foundation of the society. He cited that the FPA is focused on God-centered endeavors for the society and the country. He dedicated the Award to thousands of his constituents in the Sixth Congressional District of Bulacan. “To God Be The Glory,” Pleyto said.
In an interview, Rep. Pleyto said that he was one of the principal authors of the PPP (Public Private Partnership) Law wherein the government does not anymore spend much for development projects and infrastructures but the private investors are very much involved in the construction of mega projects that generate thousands of jobs and livelihood opportunities.
Rep. Pleyto was surprised to learn that he and his family is one of the awardees in the Golden Leaf Awards of the Family Peace Association during its First Asia-Pacific Family Peace Leadership Conference at Manila Hotel. He said that he was chosen as one of the Golden Leaf Awardees as Model Family for his accompishments in his previous government positions in the Executive Branch of the government as Undersecretary of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and now as Congressman of the Sixth District of Bulacan.
The Pleyto family is also extending assistance to the constituents of the lawmaker in the Sixth Congressional District of Bulacan in their educational, medical and livelihood needs. The lawmaker also noted the latest government program that is AKAP (Ayuda para sa Kapos ang Kita Program) wherein those workers who are earning less than the minimum daily wage are given financial assistance to enable them to cope with the rising cost of basic commodities as well as the effect of inflation.
Rep. Pleyto said that he is offering the prestigious award to his family as well as to his constituents. He likewise advised the youth to study very well and for the parents to take care of their family as it is the basic unit of the society.
Mr. and Mrs. Shinha Moon hosted the Banquet of One Family Under God for the Gala Night for the Golden Leaf Award and Model Family Award.
Mark Maranon, former station manager of Radio Mindanao Network (RMN), announced the new programs of the New Civilization Network (NCN), One Family, One Network with the indefatigable efforts of Dr. Michael Zablan, the Conference Co-Chair of the First Asia-Pacific Family Peace Leadership Conference.
Jonathan Badon, award-winning opera artist, belted out a melody of Broadway hit songs. The Golden Leaf Award for Outstanding Family-Oriented Movie was awarded to Family Matters produced by Genero Productions. The Golden Leaf Interfaith for Peace Awardee was Venerable Noppadon Siriwangso. The Golden Leaf Outstanding Youth Leadership Awardee was Las Pinas City (Lone District) Rep. and House Deputy Speaker Camille Villar. The award was received by Dr. Michael Zablan. The Golden Leaf Awardee for Sports and Philanthrophy Awardee was former Sen. Manny Pacquiao.
Imelda A. Papin, Director of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO), said that she was moved by the gathering of more than 700 delegates from diverse cultures and religions from several countries across the Asia-Pacific Region for world peace and unity. She congratulated Rep. Salvador Pleyto and his family, Rep. Camille Villar for their respective award, and most especially Dr. Michael Zablan for co-chairing the First Asia-Pacific Family Peace Leadership Conference.
As PCSO Director appointed by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr., Papin said that her office is open by way of medical assistance to the needy. She rendered the songs “Where Do I Begin” and “Isang Linggong Pag-ibig (One Week Love Affair). #
