Manila Water bags 3 honors at the 20th Philippine Quill Awards

Manila Water has received 3 honors at the recently concluded 20th Philippine Quill Awards, organized by the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) Philippines, held at the Mariott Grand Ballroom, Pasay City.

“Project Phoenix: Manila Water’s Transformation Journey Towards Becoming a Global Filipino Water Company” was given the Award of Excellence in Communication Management, under the Change Management category. Also, Manila Water’s “UNWAVERING: 25 Years of Exceptional Service” Coffee Table Book and Manila Water Foundation’s #SAFEWASH in Schools were given the Award of Merit in Communication Skills – Publication and Award of Merit in Communication Management – Corporate Social Responsibility, respectively.

“Project Phoenix” was a 12-month transformation journey culminating on the Manila Water’s 25th Silver Anniversary in August 2022. Led by Manila Water’s Chief Administrative Officer Roberto Locsin with core members from Human Resources, Corporate Strategy, and Corporate Communications, Project Phoenix paved way for the re-organization for the enterprise which supported its growth aspiration, and the creation of the fit-for-purpose global “Corporate Center” that oversees the delivery of corporate services and uniformly supports all business units across the enterprise.

“UNWAVERING: 25 Years of Exceptional Service” is a coffee table book that commemorates Manila Water’s Silver Anniversary as the East Zone water concessionaire of Metro Manila. The book which captures the history and significant achievements of the Company through the images of celebrated photographer Scott Woodward and words penned by lifestyle writer Stephanie Zubiri, is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the men and women behind the organization.

SAFEWASH in Schools is a synergy project between Manila Water Foundation and P&G Safeguard Philippines and various national government agencies to promote proper handwashing by providing the critical infrastructure to enable the life-long habit. This project supports the WASH in Schools or WinS Program of the Department of Education and its BIDA Kid Campaign with the Department of Health, strengthening health and safety protocols in schools for the complete implementation of in-person classes, preventing communicable diseases and promoting health and hygiene.

SAFEWASH in Schools significantly enhanced the access to hygiene facilities and supplies for more than half a million individuals in 285 campuses in the National Capital Region and the Province of Rizal. Under the project, student access to facilities improved by an average of 41%, with the highest improvement being 91% in the student-to-faucet ratio.
