SENATOR SPONSORS BLOODLETTING AT QC HALL

Support for Quezon City government’s call for more blood donations has snowballed when Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. sponsored a bloodletting activity at QC Hall on Thursday for the benefit of patients with dengue fever or high-risk illnesses.

Mayor Herbert Bautista and Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte led city officials in welcoming Senator Revilla, who was accompanied by his wife, Congresswoman Lani Mercado, during the bloodletting activity, launched in time for the celebration of the senator’s birthday.

Quezon City ’s hosting of Senator Revilla’s bloodletting activity marks the first time that such undertaking has been held outside his office in the Senate.

“Natutuwa po tayo dahil dito sa Quezon City pinili ni Senator Revilla na ipagdiwang ang kaniyang kaarawan.  Inaasahan natin na maraming buhay ang madudugtungan ng programang ito,” said Mayor Bautiusta.

QC-based hospitals to benefit from the senator’s blood-letting driver are the Philippine Children’s Medical Center , National Kidney and Transplant Institute, East Avenue Medical Center , Philippine Heart Center and Lung Center .

To date, there is a continuing effort from the QC health department to encourage more blood donations to help patients with dengue fever or high-risk illnesses such as HIV/AIDS.

Already, coordination with different malls in QC is being undertaken for the setting up of   blood donation booths.  Participants include the three SM malls in QC — at North Edsa , Cubao and Fairview — and also at Trinoma and the Ever Gotesco mall at Commonwealth Avenue .

Aside from the bloodletting activity, Senator Revilla also provided assistance to the QC government in addressing the flooding problem along the ABS-CBN area, in partnership with the office of House Speaker Feliciano Belmonte, Jr. Precy/ Ej/ Maureen Quiñones, PAISO
