The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) launched a new, high-tech Model Negosyo Center yesterday, marking a significant leap in government support for the country’s vast micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) sector. Designed as a one-stop, high-capacity business hub, the center aims to drastically streamline processes for aspiring and existing entrepreneurs.
DTI Secretary Cristina Roque, during the inauguration, emphasized the administration’s commitment to aggressive business support. “The Marcos Jr. administration is here to help you as best and as aggressive as we can,” she stated, addressing entrepreneurs. “We will make sure that yung mga negosyo niyo will thrive and will grow… A lot of the big players started as MSMEs, so huwag tayong mawalan ng pag-asa.”
This modernization initiative is critical as MSMEs constitute 99.6% of all Philippine businesses and generate over 60% of the country’s jobs. The new center is positioned to directly empower this economic backbone by replacing outdated, fragmented services with a seamless, digitized experience.
The flagship center consolidates essential services under one roof, including faster business name registration and Barangay Micro Business Enterprise (BMBE) processing. Beyond paperwork, it provides advanced advisory services, specialized training, innovation support, and digital integration, funded through the Tatak Pinoy and BSMED Digitalization Funds.
Yesterday’s launch is just the beginning. The DTI plans to modernize roughly 1,400 Negosyo Centers across the archipelago, starting with the completion of two upgraded centers per region within this year. This wave of upgrades reflects the Marcos administration’s broader agenda of digitizing government services and prioritizing ease of doing business.
The Model Negosyo Center represents a direct response to entrepreneur needs for faster, smarter, and more accessible government support, aiming to accelerate MSME growth in a modernizing Philippine economy.#
