Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Cristina A. Roque publicly commended Jollibee Foods Corporation (JFC) for its significant contribution to national employment and economic growth during the inauguration of the fast-food giant’s newest food commissary here on Thursday.
In her keynote speech, Secretary Roque hailed the facility as a direct boost to the government’s employment agenda under President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s administration. “This commissary is a massive win for Danao and the entire province of Cebu,” Roque stated. “Every new commissary Jollibee opens represents more jobs, more security and more growth for our local industries.”
She directly linked the investment to broader national goals, adding, “As we open more commissaries, we are also encouraging more investments in our country while strengthening our supply chain as well. And this is what the President really wants.”
The newly launched Guinsay, Danao commissary, which began construction in May 2023, officially opened on January 8, 2026. It is JFC’s fourth commissary in Cebu and the 12th nationwide. The advanced facility is designed to supply Jollibee and six of its other brands across the Visayas and Mindanao regions, significantly optimizing logistics and supporting the company’s southern expansion.
During a small-group meeting following the ceremony, Secretary Roque encouraged JFC Philippines President Joseph Tanbuntiong to continue its expansion of commissary networks. She committed the DTI’s support for such future projects, which are seen as generators of hundreds of direct jobs and countless indirect employment opportunities in related industries and services.
At the ribbon-cutting event, Tanbuntiong emphasized the commissary’s dual role in ensuring efficient distribution and fostering area development. The project is expected to bolster JFC’s operations beyond Luzon, enhance regional food supply resilience, and align private sector investment with public priorities for inclusive growth.
The inauguration underscores a strategic partnership between the government and the private sector, with Jollibee’s infrastructure investments being highlighted as a concrete model for job generation, supply chain strengthening, and regional economic development.#
