Trump, in Fiery U.N. Return, Touts “Golden Age” for America and Delivers Blunt Critique of World Body

In a highly anticipated and characteristically unscripted address to the United Nations General Assembly, former and potential future U.S. President Donald Trump declared a “golden age” for America under his leadership, while delivering a scathing critique of the U.N. itself, accusing it of incompetence and failing in its core mission.

Returning to the podium for the first time in six years, Trump immediately set the tone by highlighting technical malfunctions with the teleprompter and a stalled escalator, which he later cited as symbolic of the organization’s broader failures.

“America is Blessed,” Trump Declares

The central theme of the speech was a stark contrast between what Trump described as a weakened America under the Biden administration and the nation’s rapid resurgence in the eight months since his return to office.

“We are the hottest country anywhere in the world, and there is no other country even close,” Trump stated, claiming the U.S. now possesses the strongest economy, military, and borders. He pointed to a surging stock market, falling energy and grocery prices, and “defeated” inflation as evidence of this turnaround. A key claim was securing “$17 trillion” in new investment commitments, a figure he contrasted with “less than $1 trillion” under his predecessor.

On Immigration: “Invasion Repelled”

Trump dedicated a significant portion of his speech to immigration, framing it as a defining crisis for the Western world. He asserted that his policies had completely halted illegal border crossings.

“For the last four months… the number of illegal aliens admitted and entering our country has been zero,” he claimed, attributing the prior influx to the “ridiculous open-border policy of the Biden administration.” He warned other nations that uncontrolled migration was “destroying your country” and urged them to “take control strongly and immediately.”

He sharply criticized the U.N. for providing assistance to migrants, accusing the organization of “funding an assault on Western countries and their borders” instead of stopping “invasions.”

Foreign Policy: Claiming Unprecedented Diplomatic Achievements

In one of his most sweeping claims, Trump announced that his administration had “ended seven unendable wars” in just seven months, specifically naming conflicts between nations such as Cambodia and Thailand, Pakistan and India, and Israel and Iran.

“No President or Prime Minister… has ever done anything close to that,” he said, expressing regret that the U.N. did not assist in these efforts. “It’s too bad that I had to do these things instead of the United Nations doing them.”

On Iran, Trump revealed details of a military operation, “Operation Midnight Hammer,” which he said used B-2 bombers to “totally obliterate” Iran’s key nuclear facilities. He stated this action, followed by diplomacy, also brokered an end to a subsequent 12-day war between Israel and Iran.

Regarding the war in Ukraine, Trump claimed it “would never have started if I were President.” He criticized NATO allies for continuing to purchase Russian oil and gas, saying they were “funding the war against themselves.” He threatened to impose “very strong” tariffs on Russia and called on European nations to join him.

Energy and Climate: “The Greatest Con Job”

Trump launched a full-throated attack on renewable energy and climate change policies, which he labeled a “hoax” and “the greatest con job ever perpetrated on the world.”

Calling wind energy “pathetic” and “the most expensive energy ever conceived,” he argued that “green” policies were deindustrializing Western nations and redistributing manufacturing to polluting countries like China. He urged Europe to abandon its “suicidal energy ideas” and return to traditional energy sources like fossil fuels and nuclear power to avoid economic failure.

A Call for Sovereign Pride

In his closing remarks, Trump shifted to a more philosophical tone, calling on world leaders to protect their national sovereignty, borders, and unique cultural heritage. He framed the current era as a battle to preserve the nations built by past generations of heroes and founders.

“Let us protect their borders, ensure their safety, preserve their cultures, and treasure their traditions,” he concluded. “And fight, fight, fight for their precious dreams and their cherished freedoms.”

The speech, met with a mix of applause and silence from the assembled diplomats, underscored a vision of nationalist-driven renewal and a blunt challenge to multilateral institutions, setting a clear tone for a potential second Trump administration.#
