In a display of strategic brilliance and competitive spirit, the PaCES Chess Club of President Angara Elementary School (PAES) and Commonwealth Elementary School (CES) dominated the recently concluded Congressional District II Chess Tournament. The event, which serves as the annual qualifying meet for all public schools in the district, was held on September 13, 2025, at the Bagong Silangan Elementary School.
Under the leadership of club head Mr. Loreno C. Aniano, the young PaCESians delivered an outstanding performance, securing top honors and earning their place in the upcoming higher-level Division Meet.

The girls’ team emerged as the undeniable champions of the tournament, clinching the 1st Place Group Category – Girls. Leading the charge was Zildja Amore Adan, who captured 2nd Place in the individual Girls Category. Her teammate, Princess Maru Rosete, provided crucial support, securing 4th Place individually to solidify the team’s overall victory.
Their success ensures that Zildia Amore Adan will advance to the Division Meet, where she will compete against the top qualifiers from other districts in Quezon City.

The boys’ team also showcased remarkable talent, earning a commendable 5th Place in the Group Category – Boys. Kerby M. Espeso fought valiantly to secure 4th Place in the individual Boys Category, while Rhod Andrei P. Layugan was recognized as a Top 16 from 20 Finalist for his strong performance.
The tournament was managed by Dr. Wilma P. Rosal, Principal IV of Bagong Silangan Elementary School, who oversaw the smooth and successful execution of the event for all participating schools from the district.

In a Facebook post, club head Mr. Loreno C. Aniano praised the students, writing, “PaCES Chess Club proves that our learners will give us nothing but the best game. You made us proud, dear PaCESians!”
The entire school community now rallies behind Zildia Amore Adan as she prepares to represent Congressional District II at the Division Meet, carrying the hopes and pride of her teammates and coaches.#
