PH-EU Free Trade Agreement Talks, patuloy ang pag-usad; positibong resulta sa ikatlong round ng negosasyon

Patuloy ang paglago ng momentum sa usapin ng Free Trade Agreement (FTA) sa pagitan ng Pilipinas at European Union (EU) matapos ang matagumpay na pagtatapos ng ikatlong round ng negosasyon noong Hunyo 20, 2025 sa Brussels, Belgium.

Pinangunahan ni Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Undersecretary Allan B. Gepty ang delegasyon ng Pilipinas, habang si Director Dora Correia naman ang nanguna sa panig ng European Commission Directorate General for Trade and Economic Security.

Sa loob ng limang araw, tinalakay ng dalawang panig ang 19 na mahahalagang larangan kabilang ang Trade in Goods, Digital Trade, Services and Investment, Intellectual Property, Competition Policy, Energy and Raw Materials, at Trade and Sustainable Development—na kinikilalang pinakakomprehensibong kasunduan sa kasaysayan ng mga FTA na pinasok ng Pilipinas.

Ayon kay Undersecretary Gepty, “Ang mga makabuluhang tagumpay sa negosasyon ay patunay ng masiglang pakikipagtulungan ng magkabilang panig. Inaasahan namin ang pagsisimula ng market access negotiations sa susunod na round.”

Bukod sa opisyal na negosasyon, nagkaroon din ng pulong ang mga Chief Negotiators kasama ang BusinessEurope—isang samahan ng 42 national business federations mula sa 36 bansa. Tinalakay sa nasabing pulong ang mga interes at pananaw ng sektor ng negosyo sa FTA.

Sa Pilipinas, isinasagawa ang konsultasyon sa pamamagitan ng “One Country One Voice” platform ng DTI upang siguruhing isinasama ang pananaw ng iba’t ibang stakeholder sa bawat bahagi ng kasunduan.

Noong 2024, umabot sa $15.5 bilyon ang kabuuang kalakalan ng Pilipinas at EU, kung saan ang EU ay ikalimang pinakamalaking trading partner ng bansa. Naitala rin ang 80.3% na utilization rate ng Pilipinas sa ilalim ng EU Generalized Scheme of Preferences Plus (GSP+).

Ang PH-EU FTA ay bahagi ng Philippine Development Plan 2023–2028 na layuning magkaroon ng mas aktibo at maaasahang mga kasunduang pangkalakalan. Inaasahang magdudulot ito ng mas matatag na kalakalan at dagdag na benepisyo para sa mga mamimili at negosyante.

Gaganapin ang susunod na round ng negosasyon sa Pilipinas ngayong darating na Oktubre 2025.#
