MUNTINLUPA CITY, Philippines – In a groundbreaking move set to reshape the future of the Philippine electronics sector, Xinyx Design officially launched LABS by Xinyx on May 9, 2025, at Colegio de Muntinlupa (CDM). LABS is the country’s first flexible and premium learning platform dedicated to Integrated Circuit (IC) Design and Microelectronics, providing accessible, world-class training to aspiring engineers and professionals.

The high-profile launch was attended by key government and industry leaders, including Muntinlupa City Mayor Hon. Ruffy Biazon, CDM President Dr. Teresita Fortuna, DTI-BOI Director Corieh Dichosa, TESDA Deputy Director General Nelly Dillera, and delegates from the Private Sector Advisory Council, Asian Development Bank, and various academic institutions.

Positioned as a major step in bridging the talent gap in the semiconductor industry, LABS offers training that ranges from basic circuit theory to advanced nanotechnology. The platform is designed for senior high school students, STEM graduates, university students, educators, and industry professionals seeking hands-on skills, expert mentorship, and industry-relevant knowledge through online, in-person, and hybrid formats.

“LABS by Xinyx is the Philippines’ first premium, flexible platform focused on IC Design and Microelectronics. It’s designed to close the skills gap that limits the growth of our semiconductor industry,” said Charade Avondo, President of Xinyx Design.

This initiative comes in response to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s 2024 directive that prioritizes semiconductor and electronics development as key economic pillars. Despite the Philippines’ global reputation for producing innovative and resilient engineering talent, local training in IC Design remains limited, hindering the country’s full participation in the global semiconductor value chain.

Xinyx Design, a leading fabless IC design house in Southeast Asia, aims to change that. By launching LABS in Muntinlupa City—already home to 13 microelectronics companies and a growing innovation ecosystem—the company reinforces the city’s rising status as a hub for microelectronics education and industry collaboration.

Mayor Biazon highlighted the city’s commitment to cultivating homegrown tech talent:

“With LABS by Xinyx and the efforts of our academic institutions like CDM, Muntinlupa is fast becoming the cradle of future microelectronics engineers.”

IC Design plays a central role in powering technologies in AI, healthcare, defense, renewable energy, automotive, and aerospace—industries where Filipino engineers are already making a mark abroad. LABS seeks to harness this talent locally, providing a globally aligned pathway to high-value careers.
