The Department of Science and Technology (DOST)-Batangas, in partnership with the Odyssey Foundation Inc. (OFI) of CDO Foodsphere Inc. and the local government unit of Cuenca, Batangas (LGU-Cuenca), concluded the three-month Enhanced Nutribun (e-Nutribun) Feeding Program for the undernourished children in the municipality held at the Municipal Gymnasium, Cuenca, Batangas, Feb. 27.
One hundred ‘undernourished’ children benefitted from the feeding program, which started in September 2023. It is a partnership project of the DOST-Batangas, CDO Odyssey Foundation, Inc., and LGU-Cuenca aimed at improving the nutritional status of the identified beneficiaries. For 90 days, the beneficiaries received e-Nutribun manufactured by CDO Foodsphere Inc, a technology licensee of the DOST-Food and Nutrition Research Institute (FNRI).
A relative increase in the weights of the beneficiaries was recorded upon completion of the feeding program. Parents also observed increased vigor and appetite for e-Nutribun among their children.
CDO Foodsphere Inc. OFI Associate Program Manager Ella J. Vergara, DOST-FNRI Chief Science Research Specialist Milflor S. Gonzales, DOST-Batangas Provincial Director Felina C. Malabanan, LGU-Cuenca Municipal Mayor Alexander Magpantay, and Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officer Jellen Macatangay spearheaded the closing ceremony.
e-Nutribun and gifts from CDO Foodsphere Inc. and OFI, and nutritious products such as squash pancit canton and shing-a-ling from DOST-Batangas were distributed among the beneficiaries during the ceremony.#
