A total of 175 farmers from Surigao City, Surigao del Norte received the assistance from the Cash and Food Subsidy Program for Marginal Farmers and Fisherfolk (CFSMFF) of the Department of Agriculture, last January 27.
The CFSMFF, which is funded under the Bayanihan to Recover as One Act (Bayanihan 2), aims to augment the impacts brought about by the pandemic to qualified farmer-beneficiaries from the sectors of coconut, sugarcane, fishery, including the Indigenous Peoples (IPs).
65 Indigenous People, 101 fisherfolk, and 9 coconut farmers received financial assistance worth P5,000.00, P3,000.00 of this is in cash voucher and the remaining P2,000.00 is for food subsidy composed of 25-kilo of rice, 2 trays of egg, and a dressed chicken.
The implementing agencies from DA-Corn, PCA, BFAR, and NCIP also continued rolling out assistance in Carmen, Agusan del Norte, listing a total of 174 beneficiaries. 33 from Corn Program, 33 from the NCIP, and 108 from the BFAR.
According to Melody M. Guimary, OIC- Chief of the Field Operations Division/ Corn Program Coordinator, the target cash out of assistance to qualified beneficiaries is until February 21, 2021. # # # (DA-RFO CARAGA)
