Pasay City, Philippines — The Department of Science and Technology (DOST), through the Philippine Council for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development (DOST-PCIEERD), marked a significant milestone as it celebrated the 15th anniversary.

In a gathering held in Pasay City, DOST-PCIEERD Executive Director Enrico Paringit emphasized the event’s role in showcasing the impact of research and development in the fields of industry, energy, and emerging technologies over the past decade and a half.

“Ginunita natin ngayon ang mga inobasyon, teknolohiya, at ang mga naging epekto ng mga programa ng DOST-PCIEERD sa industriya, enerhiya, at mga bagong teknolohiya. Ito rin ay pagkilala sa mga lider at partner sa industriya, akademya at komunidad na tumulong sa tagumpay ng ating mga proyekto,” said Paringit.

Recognizing Filipino Innovation
As part of the celebration, four outstanding Filipino-developed technologies were honored for their excellence in commercialization and potential for real-world impact:

USHER (Universal Structural Health Evaluation and Recording System)
A structural monitoring system that helps assess the safety of buildings, especially after natural disasters like earthquakes. It provides crucial data on whether buildings are still safe for occupancy or lease.

VISER (Versatile Instrumentation System for Science Education and Research)
A portable laboratory-in-a-box designed to bring scientific instruments to public high schools. VISER bridges the gap in access to quality laboratory equipment and supports enhanced science education for students.

VIGORMIN
A powdered solution for treating domestic wastewater, particularly helpful for small-scale tourism operators in remote areas. It offers a low-cost and accessible alternative to conventional waste treatment facilities.

CHARM (Charging in Minutes)
A fast-charging device developed for electric vehicles, especially beneficial to public utility drivers using e-trikes and e-jeeps. CHARM reduces the charging time from seven hours to just one hour, enabling drivers to spend more time on the road.

“These four technologies exemplify Filipino ingenuity and the power of science in addressing real-world problems,” Paringit noted. “Their successful commercialization also means they are now available in the market and can be adopted by interested individuals and industries.”

Connecting with Technology Developers
For those who wish to adopt or learn more about these innovations, Paringit encourages direct contact with the respective project leaders or visits to their official websites. All four technologies are now commercially available and open for partnership or purchase.

“Pwede kayong makipag-ugnayan sa amin sa DOST-PCIEERD, at ililink namin kayo sa mga developer. Available na ang mga ito sa iba’t ibang platforms, handang magbigay ng tamang solusyon sa inyong mga pangangailangan,” he said.

The 15th DOST-PCIEERD anniversary celebration stands as a testament to DOST’s enduring commitment to advancing science and technology for national development and public benefit.#
