Patrick Roquel: Social Entrepreneur Champions Philippine Herbal Industry at Luzon Regional Scientific Meeting

Mr. Patrick Dimsuay Roquel, a dedicated social entrepreneur and visionary leader, continues to make waves in the Philippine health and agriculture sectors through his unwavering commitment to community empowerment and sustainable enterprise. As the Founding Director of Biofarm and Natural Health Ingredients Company (BinhiBiofarm) and Puno Sagip Buhay, and President of GH Nutripharm Inc. and ROQS International Consumer Health Corporation, Mr. Roquel stands at the forefront of innovation in the country’s herbal industry.

With a strong belief in the potential of Philippine-grown herbs, Mr. Roquel envisions Lagundi—a native medicinal plant—as a billion-peso industry in the near future. His advocacy centers on inclusive economic growth by providing livelihood opportunities for farmers and creating jobs for fellow Filipinos. “He plants, he shares, he saves the community”—a phrase that aptly captures his holistic approach to entrepreneurship and nation-building.

In recognition of his expertise and contributions, Mr. Roquel was invited as one of the resource persons at the Luzon Regional Scientific Meeting, an annual event conducted in partnership with the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Regional Offices. This year’s meeting, themed “Bioscience Innovations: Transforming Enterprise Ecosystems for Wealth Creation,” focused on the role of science and innovation in fostering economic development across industries.

During the session titled “Advancing Bioscience Solutions for Sustainable Layer Industry through Circular Economy,” Mr. Roquel shared insights on sustainable agricultural practices and the importance of bioscience in developing forward-thinking solutions for agri-based industries. His participation underscored the vital link between scientific research, grassroots enterprise, and economic resilience.

Mr. Roquel’s work continues to inspire a new generation of social entrepreneurs, proving that with passion and purpose, local industries—especially those rooted in nature and community—can thrive and uplift lives across the nation.#
