Three-Way Tie in Tangere 2025 Senate Survey; Duterte’s Arrest Boosts PDP-Laban’s Chances

The latest 2025 Pre-Election Senatorial Preferential Survey conducted by Tangere, on the eve of former President Rodrigo Duterte’s arrest, concluded with a three-way statistical tie for the top spot. Media executive Ben ‘Bitag’ Tulfo, ACT-CIS Representative Erwin Tulfo, and Senator Bong Go each garnered around 54% voter preference.

Ben ‘Bitag’ Tulfo emerged as the frontrunner with a 54.63% preference, driven by strong support from Metro Manila and the Visayas. Representative Erwin Tulfo ranked third with 53.50%, favored primarily by voters from Northern, Central, and Southern Luzon. While Ben Tulfo was more popular with younger voters aged 18-25, Erwin Tulfo had stronger backing from older respondents. Meanwhile, Senator Bong Go secured second place with 54%, showing notable growth compared to the previous month, particularly leading in Mindanao.

The arrest of former President Duterte bolstered the standing of PDP-Laban candidates, leading to significant increases in voter support: Senator Bong Go: Increased from 51.25% to 54.00% (Ranked 1-3); Senator Bato Dela Rosa: Rose from 36.54% to 37.29% (Ranked 7-13); Actor Philip Salvador: Gained support from 21.92% to 22.67% (Ranked 19-20); Representative Rodante Marcoleta: Climbed from 19.12% to 19.83% (Ranked 21-23); Atty. Jimmy Bondoc: Slight increase from 17.63% to 18.13% (Ranked 21-23); Atty. Vic Rodriguez: Marked a notable rise from 6.63% to 10.42% (Ranked 26-27). No significant changes were recorded for PDP-Laban candidates Sec. Raul Lambino, Pastor Apollo Quiboloy, and Jesus Hinlo Jr.

While most administration candidates experienced minimal shifts, a few saw increased support: Senator Ping Lacson: Increased from 33.33% to 36.29% (Ranked 7-13); Mayor Abigail Binay: Rose from 30.42% to 33.88% (Ranked 13-16); Camille Villar: Gained support from 29.38% to 32.04% (Ranked 14-16).

However, the following candidates experienced a decline:Senator Imee Marcos: Dropped from 29.04% to 27.13% (Ranked 17-18); Senator Francis Tolentino: Decreased from 28.04% to 27.04% (Ranked 17-18).

Tangere’s survey also revealed that a significant majority oppose the Marcos administration’s cooperation with Interpol in Duterte’s arrest under the ICC warrant. Over 75% of respondents in Central Luzon, Southern Luzon, Mindanao, and the Visayas opposed the decision, while opposition was particularly strong among respondents aged 36-50 in Metro Manila and Northern Luzon.

Moreover, 73% of respondents expressed concerns that the arrest could lead to a national divide. Trust in the Marcos administration diminished among two-thirds of those who had previously supported it.

Looking ahead to the 2025 Mid-Term Elections, 85% of voters indicated that Duterte’s arrest would significantly influence their decisions at the polls, reflecting its potential impact on the political landscape.

The latest non-commissioned survey by Tangere, conducted from March 11 to 14, 2025, gathered insights from 2,400 respondents using a mobile-based application. Employing a Stratified Random Sampling method (Quota Based Sampling), the survey maintains a margin of error of +/- 1.96% at a 95% confidence level. The respondents were proportionally distributed across the country, with 12% from the National Capital Region (NCR), 23% from Northern Luzon, 22% from Southern Luzon, 20% from Visayas, and 23% from Mindanao.
