NHA Participates in Inter-KSA Advocacy Walk for Women’s Empowerment

The National Housing Authority (NHA) joined fellow key shelter agencies (KSAs) in the Inter-KSA Advocacy Walk, an initiative led by the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) Gender and Development (GAD) Focal Point System Coordinating Body (GFPS) on February 28, 2025.

Held in observance of the 2025 National Women’s Month celebration, the event aimed to honor the vital contributions of women in nation-building and advocate for their continued empowerment. Around 500 employees from various KSAs took part in the activity, which began with a short program at 8 a.m. inside the NHA Main Compound. Participants then proceeded along Elliptical Road in Quezon City before returning to the NHA premises.

In his message, NHA General Manager and GAD Champion Joeben Tai emphasized the importance of the advocacy walk, stating, “As we celebrate National Women’s Month this March, this initiative takes on a deeper meaning. It is a recognition of the extraordinary efforts of our employees, particularly women, who have been instrumental in achieving our organizations’ goals.”

“This event is a testament to our shared commitment not only to celebrate their achievements but also to ensure that their contributions continue to shape a more equitable future for all,” he added.

Echoing this sentiment, NHA GAD Chairperson Atty. Maria Magdalena D. Siacon highlighted the broader impact of women’s empowerment, noting, “When women are empowered, society as a whole benefits. Studies show that educated and financially independent women invest in their families and communities, ultimately improving the quality of life for everyone.”

Meanwhile, DHSUD Undersecretary and GFPS Executive Committee Chairperson Henry L. Yap underscored the event’s significance, stating, “As we walk together today, let us remember that every step we take and every role we fulfill in our agencies bring us closer to a future where all women, regardless of background, are included and empowered in the housing sector. Let us walk proudly and loudly, for change is possible when we stand together.”

The event saw participation from various KSAs, including the Home Development Mutual Fund (Pag-IBIG), Social Housing Finance Corporation (SHFC), National Home Mortgage Finance Corporation (NHMFC), and Human Settlements Adjudication Commission (HSAC), alongside NHA and DHSUD.#
