The Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) is set to hold on Monday, Feb. 24, 2025, a free live chat on animation and intellectual property (IP), offering the public a unique opportunity to gain expert insights on the latest trends driving industry growth.

Organized by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in partnership with IPOPHL’s Bureau of Copyright and Related Rights (BCRR) and in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism Republic of Korea, the upcoming IP Live Chat on Animation will feature industry experts who will tackle real-world challenges and offer actionable solutions.
Joining the session are animation, copyright and business experts Marla Rausch, president of the Creative Content Creators Association of the Philippines (SIKAP) and CEO/Founder of Animation Vertigo and Vertigo Asia; Ronnie del Carmen, a writer, director, storyboard artist, illustrator and voice actor; and Rianne Hill Soriano, a film maker and president of Tuldok Animation Studios.
The episode will also feature meaningful conversations on how IP protection and enforcement can help support creators.
“The animation industry is a vibrant space where imagination meets innovation, bringing characters, stories and entire worlds to life. Yet, behind each frame, storyline and creative project lies the foundation of intellectual property—enabling creators to protect their work, unlock financial opportunities and thrive in an increasingly digital and competitive landscape,” said IPOPHL Director General Brigitte M. da Costa-Villaluz.
BCRR Director Emerson G. Cuyo elaborated on what the audience can expect, inviting animators, studio executives and creative entrepreneurs to engage actively in the discussions.
“Whether you’re an established studio executive or content creator aspiring to venture into the animation industry, we encourage everyone to ask questions and take full advantage of the expertise available in all these sessions,” Cuyo added.
Interested individuals may join the session, happening 2:00 to 4:00 PM on Monday. To participate in the online discussions, registration can be made through this link: https://hubs.ly/Q036lVH10. The public can also watch the event unfold on the IPOPHL YouTube channel.
This program is the first of a series of live chats WIPO will be holding across the world. The session aims to empower local artists, creators and entrepreneurs with practical, real-world understanding of intellectual property (IP) and its crucial role in the creative industries. This approach fosters collaboration, knowledge-sharing and new opportunities across borders, bringing together a diverse and engaged creative community.#
