The Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) is one of the recipients of the 2024 Freedom of Information (FOI) Awards, a recognition that shows the Office’s commitment to transparency and accountability.
Conferred by the Presidential Communications Office’s (PCO) Freedom of Information-Program Management Office, the award was handed to IPOPHL last November 25 as part of the 2024 FOI Summit which celebrated the implementation of the FOI Program for eight years.
“From the prompt answering of FOI inquiries, to instituting chatbots on our website and posting intellectual property information and office orders online, IPOPHL firmly believes the public’s right to information is a major pillar of good governance,” IPOPHL Director General Rowel S. Barba said.
“With this award, we aim to continue our efforts to engage and empower our people while promoting transparency and accountability in government as a dedicated advocate and champion of the FOI,” he added.
The FOI Awards was established in 2017 to recognize the efforts of government agencies, individuals and organizations that contributed to the development and progress of the FOI Program in the executive branch.
The PCO is the lead communications arm of the government and the primary source of the administration’s messages for an informed and empowered citizenry.
