Namahagi ang PCSO ng Hygiene Kits sa mga PDL sa Calamba para simulan ang Nat’l Day of Charity

Bilang panimula sa National Day of Charity activities, minarkahan ng Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) ang okasyon sa pamamagitan ng pamamahagi ng 621 hygiene kits sa Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) sa Calamba City Jail sa Barangay Turbina, noong Martes, Oktubre 1, 2024.

Ang bawat hygiene kit ay naglalaman ng mga mahahalagang bagay kabilang ang toothpaste, sabon na pampaligo, lotion, tissue, alcohol, baby (talcum) powder, facemask, reusable sanitary pad para sa mga babaeng bilanggo, at isang tradisyunal na kasuotang Pilipino na tinatawag na “malong,” na maaaring magsilbing kumot o damit.

“Kami ay lubos na nagpapasalamat sa PCSO para sa mapagbigay na inisyatiba na nagdudulot ng pag-asa at dignidad sa mga PDL. Itinatampok ng kaganapang ito hindi lamang ang mahabagin na suportang ibinigay kundi binibigyang-diin din ang kahalagahan ng kalinisan at kalusugan para sa ating PDL community,” sabi ni JCSUPT Hilbert Flor, CALABARZON Regional Director ng Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP).

Ang mga PDL naman ay nagpahayag din ng kanilang taos-pusong pasasalamat sa PCSO. Marami sa kanila ang umamin na ang mga kit na ito ay lubos na nakakatulong sa pagpapanatili ng kanilang personal na kalinisan.

Ang kaganapan ay pinangunahan ni PCSO Director Imelda Papin, kasama sina Direktor Janet De Leon-Mercado at Direktor Jennifer Liongson-Guevara. Matagumpay na naisagawa ang inisyatiba sa buong suporta ng BJMP at mga opisyal ng City Jail, na kinatawan ni Regional Director CALABARZON JCSUPT Hilbert Flor, MPSA, at Calamba City Jail Warden JCINSP Darwin Motilla.

Ang aktibidad ay bahagi ng mas malaking pagsisikap ng PCSO sa ilalim ng Gender and Development (GAD) program, na nakatuon sa kapakanan at pag-unlad ng mga mahihinang grupo. Sa pamamagitan ng programang ito, nilalayon ng PCSO na pasiglahin ang pagiging inclusivity, compassion, at dignidad para sa lahat, kahit na para sa mga nasa likod ng bar.#
