‘1st Digital classroom’ now in Montalban, Rizal with CFC Program launch

MONTALBAN, Rizal – Edgepoint Philippines on Tuesday (June 4 ) officially launched the “First Digital Classroom” under its Connectivity for Communities (CFC0 Program at Southville 8B National Highschool in Barangay San Isidro here.

In his keynote address, William Walters, Chief Executive Officer of Edgepoint Philippines, said that “we have been gearing up for this project for quite some time.”

“This is part of our communities for connectivity program. We are a tower company providing for internet connection to communities,” Walters said.

“We are bringing in a digital classroom to students in underserved communities for a seamless internet connection,” he added.

Seung Eun “Vanesa” Lee-Calixto, Resource Development Manager of Habitat for Humanity Philippines, “at Habitat, we are providing safe and affordable homes to communities.”

“We don’t just build homes. We don’t just stop here. We build infrastructures for sustainable homes,” Calixto said.

“We are here to bringing in back decency and humanity in the communities,” she added.

In an interview, William Walters, Chief Executive Officer of Edgepoint Philippines, said that they have selected the Southville 8B National Highschool in coordination with the Habitat for Humanity Philippines and the municipal government of Montalban, as part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) of taking care of the underserved communities.

Walters added that three other schools are “in the pipeline” for the digital classroom project, however they are still to be identified by the Habitat for Humanity Philippines and the local government concerned.

Walters said that their company has been in the Philippines since 2022, adding that, they are a “Tower Company” composed of cells sites providing seamless internet connection in three countries such as Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines.

He added that they have been working with Smart Philippines, Globe Telecoms and Dito telecommunications companies for the past few years for collaboration on information technology.

He stressed that despite the challenges, they have directly hired 130 people in their projects in the Philippines.#
