Pagsasanib puwersa ng Pilipinas at US para isulong ang Siyensya at Teknolohiya

Nakipagpulong ang Department of Science and Technology (DOST) sa mga opisyal mula sa United States para isulong ang bilateral na relasyon sa agham at teknolohiya, habang ipinatawag ng dalawang bansa ang 1st PH-US Joint Committee Meeting (JCM) on Science and Technology noong Abril 30, 2024 , sa Washington, D.C., USA.

Ang mga delegado mula sa Pilipinas at Estados Unidos ay nag-pose para sa isang photo opt sa panahon ng PH-US Joint Committee Meeting on Science and Technology (S&T)

Ang pagpupulong, sa pangunguna ni Undersecretary Leah J. Buendia mula sa Department of Science and Technology (DOST) ng Pilipinas at Deputy Assistant Secretary Rahima Kandahari mula sa US State Department, ay nagsilbing plataporma upang matukoy ang mga prayoridad na lugar para sa pakikipagtulungan sa mga pangunahing lugar tulad ng OneHealth , biotechnology, biosecurity, artificial intelligence, enerhiya, kapaligiran, at siyentipikong pagpapahusay.

Binigyang-diin ni Undersecretary Buendia ang mahalagang papel ng pulong sa pagbibigay ng malinaw at nakatutok na direksyon para sa susunod na dalawang taon. Ang pangako sa pakikipagtulungan ay kitang-kita sa nakabubuo na diyalogo at ibinahaging pananaw para sa pagpapaunlad ng pagbabago at pagpapalitan ng kaalaman sa pagitan ng dalawang bansa.

Ang mga pinuno ng delegasyon mula sa Pilipinas at Estados Unidos, (kanan) DOST Undersecretary Leah J. Buendia at (kaliwa) Deputy Assistant Secretary Rahima Kandahari.

Ang pagpupulong na ito ay minarkahan ang unang bilateral na pagtitipon mula nang lagdaan at i-renew ang PH-US Science and Technology Agreement noong 2019. Ito ay sumasagisag sa matatag na partnership ng Pilipinas at Estados Unidos, na nagpapahiwatig ng panibagong pangako sa pagpapalalim ng kooperasyon sa agham, teknolohiya, at pagbabago.

Dumalo ang Executive Directors ng Councils of the DOST – Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development (DOST-PCAARRD), Philippine Council for Health Research and Development (DOST-PCHRD), Philippine Council for Industry , Energy, and Emerging Technology Research and Development (DOST-PCIEERD), at ang National Research Council of the Philippines (DOST-NRCP). Naroon din ang Agriculture Counselor at ang pinuno ng Economic Section ng Philippine Embassy sa Washington, D.C.

Sa hinaharap, ang mga resulta ng unang PH-US JCM ay maglalatag ng batayan para sa isang matatag na partnership na nailalarawan sa paggalang sa isa’t isa at ibinahaging layunin.#
