CEMEX, Manila Water sign MOU to collaborate on sustainable business practices

CEMEX Holdings Philippines, Inc. (CHP) and Manila Water Company, Inc. (Manila Water) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to collaborate and explore opportunities of mutual interest to meet both parties’ corporate sustainability objectives.

The intersection of business goals and strategic commitment of both CHP and Manila Water makes this an attractive co-operation to further progress decarbonization and future energy. Under the MOU, both parties have the opportunity to build and collaborate on initiatives that accelerate sustainable objectives on circular economy through the use of biosolids as alternative fuels.

CEMEX Holdings Philippines, Inc. and Manila Water Company, Inc. are set to pursue partnerships on initiatives that accelerate sustainable objectives, in the areas of biosolids, decarbonization, future energy and innovation on sustainable products and services, protection and rehabilitation of biodiversity, and clean energy and efficient water consumption, in a Memorandum of Understanding the said companies have signed today.

CHP and Manila Water will also explore partnership in the areas of innovation on sustainable products and services, protection and rehabilitation of biodiversity, and clean energy and efficient water consumption advocacy. The MOU will entail both parties to collaborate and share knowledge, expertise, and practices on projects that will be identified as part of the roadmap.

With more businesses considering climate change as one of its top risks and recognizing the Philippines as one of the most vulnerable to its impacts, the partnership between CHP and Manila Water seeks to reinforce the role of business to propose better solutions, in response to the climate crisis.

Present at the ceremony were CHP’s President & Chief Executive Officer, Luis Guillermo Franco Carrillo, and Vice President for Planning, Jesus Ortiz Dela Fuente, and Manila Water’s President and Chief Executive Officer, Jose Victor Emmanuel A. De Dios, and Chief Administrative Officer and Chief Operating Officer for International Business, Roberto Jose R. Locsin.
