Manila Water continues to intensify its expansion in Rizal province, with 50 pipelaying mainline extension and individualization projects lined up for 2021-2022, 40 of which were already completed and 10 to be finished this year.  Almost 17,000 families from Rizal will benefit from these projects.

More than 13,500 families in the Rizal service area of Manila Water are now being provided with improved water quality and supply, as the company completes 40 projects in its intensified expansion program.

Residents in Baranagy Sipsipin, M. Bellin, Pasig-pasigan, JICA Bayugo, Bungad Punta, JICA Banay-banay, Palaypalay, Pagkalinawan, Sitio Ik-ik and Lubo in Jalajala; Barangay Inarawan, San Roque, San Jose, Mambugan, San Roque, and Cupang in Antipolo City; Barangay San Jose, San Isidro, and San Rafael in Rodriguez; Barangay Silangan and Guitnang Bayan 1 in San Mateo; Barangay Calumpang, Batingan, Lunsad and Palangoy, in Binangonan; Barangay San Juan and Muzon in Taytay; Barangay San Juan in Cainta; and Barangay Pinugay in Baras benefitted from the pipelaying mainline extension and individualization projects slated for 2021-2022, which has a total cost of P524,519,544.

For the rest of the year, Manila Water is scheduled to finish 10 more ongoing pipelaying projects in Rizal. 3,469 families from are Barangay Guitnang Bayan 1, Guitnang Bayan 2 and Guinayang in San Mateo; Barangay Lunsad and Mahabang Parang in Binangonan; Barangay San Juan in Taytay; Barangay Looc in Cardona; and Barangay San Andres in Cainta expected to benefit from these projects.

Residents in Binangonan and Cardona previously sourced water from local cooperatives and water vendors. The projects in Taytay and Cainta were individualization projects, where residents were given individual water connections converted from the bulk meter connection of the entire community. The Pag-ibig Homes mainline extension project in Cainta was done to address the area’s low water pressure.

Customers from the said areas expressed satisfaction with the service improvement. “Sa akin pong obserbasyon ay nakaramdam po ng kagaanan at ginhawa ang inyong mga natulungan at nawa po ay mas marami pang proyekto kayong ganito sa aming barangay” said Manuel Jandoc Jr., Administrative Officer of Barangay Calumpang, Binangonan. (“I have observed a sense of comfort and ease among those that you have helped. We hope more projects like this will be implemented in our barangay,” said Manuel Jandoc Jr., Administrative Officer of Barangay Calumpang, Binangonan.)

Manila Water Corporate Communication Affairs Group Head Jeric Sevilla, Jr. underscored the importance of implementing these expansion projects that will allow the delivery of quality water supply and services, particularly to marginalized communities.

“Manila Water has always been committed to provide its customers access to reliable and potable water supply, and to extend its service to those who are living in the farthest and highest parts of its service area. This is embedded in our purpose and mission:  to provide better lives and resilient economies through critical infrastructure, and deliver world-class services tailored to the needs of the communities we serve,” said Sevilla.
