In a zoom press conference initiated by Tangere, CEO Martin Peñaflor told the media lead the survey this time for entertaining interviews and attending forums according to a non-commissioned online survey conducted by big data research firm, Tangere.
Peñaflor said that a downward trend for the current front-runner Bong Bong MArcos, barely-changed numbers for the former runner-up VP Leni Robredo, who was overtaken by the consistently improving numbers of the former third placer Mayor Isko Moreno : that’s the summary of the net effect on voter preferences , in light of the performances (or non-appearance) of candidates during the recent media-sponsored presidential candidate forums and interviews.
According to Martin Peñaflor, CEO and Founder of Tangere, based on the results of their latest survey conducted last February 4-5, frontrunner and former Sen. Ferdinand Marcos Jr. still remains to be the top preferred presidential candidate for the May 2022 polls, despite his steadily declining numbers, now at 54%, compared to almost 58% based on the January 18 survey results and around 60% from the January 2 survey run. Survey results also show that 1 of 3 BBM supporters felt “disappointed” by BBM’s no-show at the recent KBP-sponsored event.
Meanwhile, Vice President Leni Robredo has been dislodged a slot lower in the race to Malacanang to 3rd place, despite her score remaining in the 15% ballpark in the past three survey runs, by Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso, whose numbers have been steadily rising from 16.29 % last January 3 run, to 16.75% last January 18, to further improving significantly at 22.17% during the most recent survey run, moving him up a notch to 2nd place.
Interestingly, the Manila Mayor has also been rated by survey participants as the best performing candidate during both The Jessica Soho Presidential Interviews , according to 65% of those that watched the special presentation by top local network, GMA, and the KBP Presidential Forum, aired live last February 4, across the more 300 member networks from Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (or KBP), according to 54% of its viewers amongst the survey participants. Meanwhile, Senator Marcos and the current Manila Mayor are ranked 1 and 2, with 43% and 39% preferring them , respectively, as the best performing candidates , for those that have seen the one-on-one presidential candidate interviews moderated by known interview veteran, Boy Abunda.
“It is also interesting to note that , though half of the respondents said their current presidential candidate preference will unlikely change and that only 1 in 5 Filipinos believe that former Senator Marcos will be disqualified in his presidential bid, a clear majority at 54% of the respondents will be voting for Mayor Isko Moreno instead, should a BBM disqualification scenario actually happen.”, Penaflor added.
The mobile-based survey was conducted with a margin of error of five percent, with survey respondents proportionately representing the following areas nationwide : 12% from Metro Manila, 23% from North & Central Luzon, 22% from South Luzon, 20% from Visayas and 23% from Mindanao.
