The Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office 7(DA-RFO 7) adopts the tool from the United Nations Economic Commission in assessing the needs of farmers and fishers affected by the onslaught of typhoon Odette.

A multi- sectoral and multi- disciplinary team from the Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office (DARFO7), Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), Department of Energy, Department of Interior and Local Government, Department of Health, National Housing Authority and from the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources  attended the said workshop last January 14, 2022 to  come up with a comprehensive and inclusive needs assessment of the farmers and fishers, by using a structured approach in the recovery and reconstruction efforts.

According to Bernard Limbaga, officer-in-charge of the provincial agriculture coordinating office in Negros Oriental, the post disaster needs assessment (PDNA) intends to validate the submitted damage report from the LGU’s. Based on the team’s assessment in Pamplona and Amlan, two of the severely hit areas in the province, the banana plantations are the most damaged.

The output of the PDNA is short and long term plan for a wholistic approach in addressing the needs of affected farmers and fishers.

The activity was spearheaded by Office of the Civil Defense (OCD). # # # (DA-RFO VII, RAFIS)
