In a bid to raise efficiency in ending the spread of African Swine Fever (ASF), the Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office 2 ( DA RFO 2) and the Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI) installed the P3.2 million worth of wall mounted disinfection system at Sitio Consuelo checkpoint, Brgy Baliling, Sta Fe, Nueva Vizcaya today, January 21, 2022.
“While we have this machine to fasten the disinfection of trucks transporting meat, livestock, and poultry, we are always on our toes as our joint staff continue to man the monitor- checkpoint here in this gateway to Cagayan Valley,” RTD for Regulatory and Research Rose Mary G. Aquino, who represented RED Narciso A. Edillo said in her message.
“We join the DA in its advocacy to end ASF. We immediately acted in tightening the checkpoint when ASF hit the region two years ago,” Sta Fe Mayor Tidong Benito said.
Dr. Christopher Seraspi, of Nueva Vizcaya PVet Office said in his message of commitment they will also deploy more personnel to augment DA and BAI staff to man the checkpoint.
Dr. Roberto Busania, RTD for Operation and Extension presented the overview of the system while Dr. Daryl de la Cruz of BAI explained the flow of the operation and presented how the machine works.
“We turn this over to BAI for more effectual operation to curb the ASF spread, and hopefully to end it so we can restore the swine industry in the region,” Busania said.
“Gagawin po namin ang aming tungkulin para mapabilis at maging epektibo ang sistemang ito. Una, para sa proteksion natin sa ASF, at pangalawa para hindi maantala ang ating mga motorista,” Dr. Daryl de la Cruz said in his acceptance message during the turn over ceremony. # # # (DA-RFO II, RAFIS)
