Dar, hinikayat ang mga hog raisers na kumuha ng insurance

Sa paglalayong mapagaan ang naluging kapital o sakaling tamaan man ng African Swine Fever ang mga alagang baboy, hinikayat ni Agriculture Secretary William D. Dar ang mga commercial at backyard hog raisers na mag-avail ng livestock insurance sa Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation.

“Tugon ito sa malawakang kampanya ng Department of Agriculture na masigurong protektado ang mga hog raisers sa ASF,” pahayag ni Dar kamakailan.

Ayon kay PCIC President Jovy Bernabe, nahati sa dalawang kategorya ang pagbabayad ng premiums. Una, ang karampatang premium na 2.25% ng P10,000 o P225 kada baboy. Pangalawa, libre ito para sa mga hog raisers na kabilang sa Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agriculture. Magbabayad ang PCIC ng P10,000/head sa mga apektadong hog raisers.

Magkaiba ang insurance coverage na ito sa ASF Indemnification Program na ipinatutupad ng DA Livestock Program, kung saan namamahagi ito ng P5,000/culled swine head, bunsod ng ASF.

“Maaaring mag-apply online sa pamamagitan ng pag-access sa DA PCIC website o bisitahin ang mga regional at provincial extension offices at service desks,” dagdag ni Bernabe.

Sa Cagayan Valley, maliban sa mga nauna nang mga indemnification claims, mayroong siyam na hog raisers na may 47 heads na claim at nagkakahalaga ng mahigit P200,000.

Ayon kay PCIC Regional Office No. 02 OIC-Manager Jean Bayani, nakahanda na ang kanilang tanggapan na magbigay ng insurance sa mga hog raisers para sa taong ito.

“Inaanyayahan po naming kayong kumuha na ng insurance at sisiguraduhing naming mayroon kayong mga benepisyong matatanggap,” ani Bayani.

Kanyang inaabisuhan ang mga interesadong magsasaka na makipag-ugnayan sa opisina ng Municipal Agriculturist o pinakamalapit na tanggapan ng PCIC sa kanilang mga lugar.

Sa kasalukuyan, naglaan ang DA ng 400 milyong piso para repopulation program at pinaiigting ang programang BABay o Bantay ASF sa Barangay upang wakasan ang lumalalang problema sa ASF at maibalik na sa normal ang presyo ng karneng baboy.
