DA-RMC NorMin gears for ‘One-DA’ approach

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – The Regional Management Committee (RMC) of the Department of Agriculture  in Northern Mindanao works in carrying out its efforts in pursuing ‘One-DA’ – a holistic approach to agriculture and fisheries transformation.

During its first RMC meeting,  Regional Executive Director Carlene C. Collado of DA-RFO 10 and the RMC Chair,  laid out the key strategies of DA Secretary William D. Dar in pursuing major programs and activities for year 2021.

Sec. Dar issued a memorandum on January 4, 2021 to all DA executives, attached agencies and corporations, programs and regional offices to pursue and inclusive approach on the key strategies to accelerate the transformation towards a modern and industrialized Philippine agriculture.

RED Collado said,  the DA-RMC in Region 10 will adopt a community in barangay Minalwang, Claveria, Misamis Oriental in coordination with 58th Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army thru its Commanding Officer Lieutenant Colonel Ricky L. Canatoy.

Col. Canatoy said, sitio Kalahaan possesses a great potential in farming industry with its rich agricultural land.

The DA-RMC’s agri-fishery interventions is part of EO No. 70 or institutionalizing the whole-of-nation approach.

Sec. Dar emphasized that DA supports President Duterte’s priority programs and firm up the ‘One DA’ approach.

The 12 key strategies to ‘Grow’ Agriculture in 2021 and beyond include: farm clustering/Bayanihan Agri Clusters (BACs); province-led agriculture and fisheries extension system (PAFES); agri-industrial business corridors; consolidation and mapping-out of infrastructure investment; post-harvest, processing logistics, and marketing support.

Further, it will focus on digital agriculture; climate change adaptation & mitigation measures; mobilization and empowerment of partners to attain scale; strategic communication support; ease of doing business and transparent procurement; global trade & export development and promotion; and, food safety regulations.

RMC is composed of DA and its attached agencies  and bureaus in Region 10 which include ATI, BFAR, BPI-PQS, BPI-SPAL, BPI-NSQCS, NTA, NFA, FPA, PCC, PCIC, BAI-NVQS, PhilRice, PCA, NMIS, PhilFida, PhilMech, ACPC, BSWM, NDA,  and SRA with its chair, RED Collado of DA. # # # (DA-RFO X, RAFIS)
