DAR Negros Occidental-2 partners with Central Philippine State University to support CARP

The Department of Agrarian Reform–Negros Occidental 2 and the Central Philippine State University (CPSU) will enter into an agreement to conduct various collaborations to support the implementation of the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP) by introducing projects to be implemented this year.

Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer I Enrique Paderes said in a conference held on Wednesday, January 6, at CPSU-Kabankalan Campus in Barangay Camingawan in Kabankalan City, that both institutions identified their respective projects and programs, which will be the focus of the said partnership.

“We have decided to team up with CPSU to strengthen our information, education and communication strategies to reach a wider scope of agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) and to encourage various sectors to continue providing support for the DAR to improve the implementation of CARP in Negros Occidental,” Paderes said.

Paderes said included among the projects to be implemented is the provision of assistance by the CPSU to the DAR by introducing useful and productive farming and agriculture technologies to help boost the household income of ARBs Organizations (ARBOs) in South Negros Occidental

As part of the communication plan, a radio program will soon be aired over CPSU’s Radyo Muscovado to help in the dissemination of information regarding the agency various support services, programs, and projects.

Other proposed collaborations include the formation of ARBs and Student’s Agraryo Trainers and Broadcasters Guild, Youth CARP Warriors, conduct of non-academic activities that will help instill in the minds of students and youths the importance of CARP and agriculture.

The agency and the university will also partner for the drafting and launching of the training modules both for ARB and non-ARBs such as Agri-Tekno Komiks, Titulo Dos, and The Southern Echo.

CPSU President Dr. Aladino Moraca welcomed the DAR-CPSU partnership which he considered as one of the breakthroughs to both government institutions that have a common goal of improving the lives of their stakeholders.

“This initiative is a welcome development for the institution especially that CPSU is aiming to become a leading institution in local and global development through instruction, research, extension, and production with an effective partnerships with other stakeholders,” Moraca said.

OIC-PARPO II Arnulfo Figueroa expressed his gratitude to CPSU-Kabankalan for always supporting the mandates of the DAR through strong collaborations for the attainment of effective and efficient CARP implementation.

“I personally would like to thank CPSU through the strong leadership of Dr. Moraca for always believing in DAR and for opening its door through various opportunities that would surely help our agrarian reform communities and future agriculture champions,” Figueroa said.

Figueroa said that at present, there are already sets of training already lined-up to materialize all the plans under the said partnership.

The official signing of the Memorandum of Agreement between the two agencies is scheduled on January 28, this year.

Present also during the conference are Graduate School Program Dean Dr. Mae Flor Posadas, Director of Development Communication and Information Office Dr. Flora Lingamen Carpio, Senior Agrarian Reform Program Officer Diona Molina and Provincial Communications Group Lay-out Artist Chester Keith Cabreros.
