Ramon Magsaysay, Zamboanga del Sur – The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR), with the aim of continuously improving the lives and agricultural productivity of the farmers in this province, has turned over Php 3.2-million worth of support services project to two (2) agrarian reform beneficiaries’ organizations (ARBOs) December 17, 2020.
Campo IV Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries and Farmers’ Cooperative (CIVCABEFAMCO) in Ramon Magsaysay town received Php 1.15- million delivery truck and Php 1.2-million multi-purpose building/warehouse benefitting 379 farmers, while Lower Tiparak Tambulig Irrigator Association (LOWTIPTAM, IA) in the municipality of Tambulig received Php 950,000 worth of 4-Wheel drive tractor benefitting 226 farmers.
DAR Secretary Brother John Castriciones said the department continuously provides support services projects to the agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) to show their importance to the present administration for unceasingly ensuring food security in the country.
“This time of the pandemic showed the importance of the agricultural sector. Many people lost their jobs and stopped from working. The farmers did not stop working, but rather, despite the crisis, they keep on providing food to be served on our table. Our farmers deserve all the support we can provide,” Brother John said.
Ramon Magsaysay Mayor Leonilo Borinaga Sr. said this is the first time that a DAR Secretary visited their town and personally turned over projects for the farmers.
The projects provided for CIVCAVEFAMCO are being implemented under the Project Convergence on Value Chain Enhancement for Rural Growth and Empowerment (Project ConVERGE) while those provided to LOWTIPTAM, IA’s are being implemented under the Climate Resilient Farm Productivity Support Project (CRFPSP).
