The Department of Agriculture Philippine Rural Development Project through the Regional Project Coordination Office 13 headed by RED Abel James I. Monteagudo turn over today, December 18, 2020 the 14.162 km Concreting of Poblacion-Manlico-Uba Farm-to-Market Road in Cortes, Surigao del Sur to the Province of Province of Surigao del Sur headed by Governor Alexander T. Pimentel.
The completed concrete project amounting to a total of P187.6 Million is a joint project of the DA-PRDP funded by the World Bank, the Philippine Government and the Provincial Government of Surigao del Sur.
The road covers six barangays: Poblacion, Manlico, Tuboran, Capandan, Madreliño, and Uba with 1,172 household beneficiaries, 1,097 of which are farmers and fishers. It also benefits 5,346 inhabitants of the said barangays and its surrounding communities.
The road has given farmers easy access to the market in bringing their products like coconut, banana, coffee, seafoods, seaweeds and other local products with less cost and time. # # # (DA-RFO XIII, RAFIS)
